Shelly and Carrie of Fluidesign Studio were recommended to us by a trusted neighbor who also used Fluidesign for their remodel. In the early planning stages my wife and I felt we needed an addition to gain space and function for our home. Our neighbor was confident Fluidesign would be able to come up with a design that met all of our needs while keeping the existing footprint to save both time and money. He was right, Shelly and Carrie nailed the design! They came up with a design that not only kept the existing footprint but re-configured the space to gain the most function from every square inch. When it came to picking out finish selections, Shelly and Carrie really listened to us and knew our taste! They knew what would fit with both the design and budget, making the process stress free. Communication is another trait Fluidesign excelled at. They really felt like our partners with this project and we're always looking out for our best interest. Project Type - Main Level Renovation
We hired Fluidesign Studio to design a major remodel of our first floor. Our goal was to turn our 1950s house with its tiny box rooms and narrow galley kitchen into an open floor plan. Shelly and Carrie came up with a layout that was not only functional but beautiful, as well. What impressed me most about their work style is their ability to deftly balance what we wanted and needed as the customer, while at the same time inserting their professional opinions about layout and design - which is what we wanted - otherwise why pay for the services of a professional design team. There are many talented design firms out there - but a good eye doesn't go hand in hand with the ability to make a client feel valued, heard and special. Project Type - Addition + Interior Renovation From December 2013 through July 2014, we worked with Fluidesign on a major remodel to our historic St. Paul home. Throughout this process, Fluidesign was incredibly attentive to our tastes and desires, they dramatically simplified the process of making a thousand choices, they ensured our priorities were being addressed with every design iteration, and they gracefully helped us make compromises to stay within our budget & schedule constraints, while never sacrificing design intent or top priorities. They also were transparent with their design fees, which were done in 3 phases. Project Type - Kitchen Renovation We began the design process with an architect. When we became unhappy with the direction the architect was taking the design, we hired Shelly and Carrie to pick up the project. They provided us with excellent suggestions for everything from the layout to the finer details of the selections. They respected our budget and went above and beyond in helping us cut back where we could without losing the integrity of the design. They were mindful of the style of our 100-year old home and made sure the newly remodeled space would "fit" in our home. Perhaps most important to us was that they were patient. Project Type - Mudroom Addition + Exterior Renovation We loved our experience with Fluidesign and recommend that anyone looking for talented, dedicated, and fairly priced designers hire Shelly and Carrie for their project! Shelly and Carrie provided exceptional design services for our home remodel. We explored many different renovation options for our home, and they were always responsive and exceedingly patient during our design/build process. Shelly and Carrie also recognized our design preferences early in the project and gave us wonderful suggestions and samples from which to choose backsplash, tile, paint, countertops, etc. Finally, Shelly and Carrie were terrific intermediaries with our contractor when issues inevitably arose during the construction process. While we were also pleased with our contractor's service, we never doubted that Fluidesign was on our side. We have had a wonderful experience with Fluidesign and recommend them highly. Project Type - Interior Renovation Our house was a 1927 Tudor that had been neglected for years. Before we made an offer we walked through with a contractor recommended to us by our realtor, and he gave us an idea of what was feasible in terms of our budget and the home’s layout and condition. We eventually met with Carrie and Shelly, however, and they gave us a completely different view. They drew up a design that included everything on our wish list and also managed to find room for a new mudroom – something we thought was not possible. Their design was thoughtful and detailed and comprehensive. They thought of things in the beginning that would not have crossed our minds until much later in the project. When we moved into the planning and execution stages, Carrie and Shelly worked seamlessly with our contractor. They gave us a scope of work that that was incredibly detailed – we knew up front exactly what the timeline would look like, the process for requesting any changes, the cost of every single item down to the tiles and light bulbs, and how our project would be managed. Even though I was pregnant, changing jobs, and moving into a new house, the 4-month project was honestly not a significant stress on me or my husband. Carrie and Shelly were fantastic to work with, and their design recommendations were top-notch. We finished our project on time, on budget, and with a beautiful and well-crafted new home.
